Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What if Auto-Tune is used as an obvious “novelty” vocal effect, not as a pitch corrector?
If it is indeed deemed to have been used as an obvious "novelty" effect, the relevant track/s must be identified on an attachment to the return form and a physical recording or mp3 of the track/s sent/e-mailed to RealSing. Then a RealSing representative will review and make their recommendation to the Collective. Their decision is final.
  • What if Auto-tune is used as an obvious “novelty” vocal effect on several tracks on a CD/EP/Album?
No more than 20% of the playing time of the CD/EP/LP can have utilized auto-tune as an obvious “novelty” vocal effect.
  • Is a single track eligible if it uses Auto-Tune as an obvious “novelty” vocal effect?
    No.
  • How much do additional stickers cost?
$75.00 per thousand. For quantities over 15,000 RealSing will make further quantity discounts available upon request

  • How do you know if stickers are placed on recordings that have not been certified?
All stickers are sequentially numbered and the numbers assigned to each recording will be logged and displayed on the recording’s certification search results

  • What if Auto-Tune is used in the background vocals?
That's fine, we are only dealing with the lead/primary vocals.

  • What if Auto-Tune is only used on one or two tracks on a CD?
The CD is not eligible for RealSing certification

  • Are individual tracks eligible to be certified by RealSing?
Yes, and that can be indicated attendant to the download on the site.

  • If my recording is denied certification is my payment returned?
Yes, if your recording is denied certification your Paypal account will be credited for the entire amount you paid.

  • If my entire recording (CD/EP) is RealSing certified, do I also have to certify each individual track if they are offered for sale as downloads separate from the CD?
No, any tracks in that recording are implicitly also certified, including the “novelty enhancement” tracks (which will have already been certified as free of pitch correction). You may indicate the certification number in the description attendant to each track on your site and if you have image download capability you may download the RealSing logo for use adjacent to only the certified tracks, not your entire website.
